The helter skelter on Clacton Pier was installed in March 2009 when the pier itself was refurbished. It’s a 50ft slide that was used in an advertisement for Marks and Spencer in 2008 and 2009, but was originally buld in 1949 for use in a travelling show. It collapsed under the weight of a storm on 28 October 2013, but was rebuilt and opened again the following year.
