- Clacton is a holiday resort on the east coast, close to Frinton and Walton. It has a pier with amusements and rides, and good beaches. It was previously the site of a Butlins holiday camp, but that closed in 1983 and after being run for a short time under a different name by the former managers it was closed down and sold for development as housing.
